Wealthy geological data on the lake palaeoenvironment from China makes it possible to compile a late Quaternary Chinese Lake Status Database (CLSDB). This paper describes the construction of the CLSDB, which is consistent with the global lake status database, and call for more data from within China and around. The CLSDB will play a very important role in the study of reconstructing the palaeoclimate in east Asian region, and validating the regional to global climate model simulations.
