Abstract
Rickettsia sennetsu was inoculated experimentally into cynomolgus monkeys, Macaca irus, for study on infectious mononucleosis. The monkeys manifested a certain disease by intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injection with the agent, but did not by oral administration with it. The disease induced in these monkeys can be called clinically as an infectious mononucleosis, and the infection was confirmed through etiological investigations. Monkey to monkey passage with the agent was also successful. The comparison between Rickettsia sennetsu and the agent of infectious mononucleosis described in old publications of Japan is discussed.
