Abstract

In this paper, the authors report the results of the tests on the relationship between the rooting behavior and the region of the tree from which the cuttings were collected.
(1) Metasequoia seedling planted on 1950 was employed as the mother stock.
(2) It was recognized that the cuttings collected from the lower region of the crown rooted more easily than those of the upper and of the middle region of the crown.
(3) The cuttings collected from the lower region of the crown formed the larger number of roots and the longer roots per rooted cuttings than those of the other regions.
(4) On the region of the branch from which the cuttings should be collected, the authors could not fined anv definite tendecv in these experiments.
